One such bug is the TRUMPET error, which rears its pesky head when players boot up the game, telling them to restart the client to play (which is obviously not fixing the problem). Bungie’s official Twitter account has made it clear that they are aware of this issue and that they are currently working on a way to fix it.
In the meantime, Bungie believes it has traced the issue down to a core problem: the presence of deleted accounts on your friends list. This means there are two solutions to this issue:
Removing Inactive Accounts From Your Friends List
You can attempt to search through your friends list and delete anyone whose account no longer actually exists. Of course, this can be somewhat of a pain, especially if you have a lot of friends.
Switching Your Blizzard Region
The second solution involves less trial and error on your part, but also requires more communication to set up parties with your friends. Basically, by default, you will have been playing, or set up in, a specific Blizzard Region, which is a server chosen for you based on your Blizzard account country of origin.
You can only play with people who are in the same Blizzard Region as you. However, people who are not in the same region will not show up on your friend’s list. Thus, the idea is that if you switch your region, you will functionally not have a friends list and thus eliminating the glitch. Of course, switching back to your original region will bring back the original friends list and with it, the TRUMPET glitch.
If you would rather switch your Blizzard region than clear out your friends list, follow the steps below.
How to Change Your Blizzard Region
Shutdown Destiny 2 Open the Blizzard desktop application Go to the Destiny 2 landing page Find the drop-down menu above the “Play” button Chang your Blizzard region
For now, these are the only fixes that are being offered by Bungie. Neither is perfect, but at least it’s something until the official patch drops sometime in the future.
