This guide will provide you with tips on how fix Humankind crashes. Some of these issues have been dragging along behind the strategy games from its closed beta stage, and some are common crash errors. In either case, follow our guidelines below, and you should be able to fix your game crashes soon enough.
Humankind Crashes at Launch Fix
Many Humankind players who took part in the closed beta, started to experience game crashes at launch. This is caused by the old profiles that were created specifically for the closed beta stage.
If you took part in the open development or closed beta, then you need to delete your old profile and let the game create a new one.
Delete your old folder “\Users[username]\Documents\Humankind" before starting a new game.
Verify the Integrity of Your Files
As usual, before looking for other reasons that may cause your game to crash, first verify the integrity of your files through Steam by following these steps:
Go to your Steam client Select “Library” tab Right-click on the Humankind game Select “Properties” from the list Go to “Local Files” tab Select “Verify Integrity of Game Files”
To do so through Epic:
Go to your Epic client Select “Library” tab Left-click on the three dots at the bottom right of the Humankind image Select “Verify”
You can also verify the integrity of the Game Cache. All you need to do is follow the steps above except the final one. In this instance choose “Verify Integrity of Game Cache”.
Update Your Graphics Drivers
Follow these steps to update Nvidia graphics drivers:
Download the latest Nvidia graphics drivers from the official page Start the installation Restart your PC when finished

Update Your System Files

Then, update your VCRedist files:

Run Steam and Humankind as Administrator
You can force your system to run both Steam and Humankind as an administrator. Here’s how you can do it:
Go to “\Program Files\Steam" folder on your PC Right-click on the “steam. exe” file Select “Properties” option Go to “Compatability” tab Check “Run this program as an administrator” option
You can do the same for your game:
Go to “\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Humankind" folder on your PC Right-click on the “humankind. exe” file Select “Properties” option Go to “Compatability” tab Check “Run this program as an administrator” option
Reload Your Save Files
In case Humankind crashes at certain points during gameplay, you may need to reload your save files. These may include such instances like:
During actions in battle Between taking turns When starting a battle a few tiles away from the city When queue shows infinite time to completion
If your game crashes at these moments, then restart the game and reload your latest save file.
Switch to Vulcan from DirectX
The game may lag and even crash due to DirectX. If so, you need to switch to Vulcan software.
You can force the game to work with Vulcan by following these steps:
Go to your Steam client Select “Library” tab Right-click on the Humankind game Select “Properties” from the list Go to “General” tab Select “Launch Options” feature Type in the following value into the box: -force-vulkan
Now you need to restart your game in order for the new settings to take effect.

If you’re using one of the following audio enhancement programs, then you need to either disable or uninstall them:
Nahimic Sonic Sound 2 Sonic Suite Razer Chroma Synapse
